Seeing is believing these Video Resumes

So you think you are the right person for that job you have been eyeing? It is time you proved it — on camera.
Video resume, the global mantra in recruiting, has caught the imagination of Indian head-hunters, who now find candidates explaining what they do on video more convincing than bloated and doctored paper resumes.
Industry insiders say video CVs are a hit among recruiters scouting training talent.
"Most of our international clients first want to see their future training consultants in action on video," says Anil Sachdev chairman and MD, Grow Talent, the Indian subsidiary of Right Management.
A typical three-minute video CV has a short clip of the candidate talking about himself and his work profile followed by short clips of his work.
Another emerging trend is uploading your video CV on a server or your blog and e-mailing the link to the prospective employer.
Says Sachdev: "Recently, applicants for an international corporate communication position sent links to their video blogs.
"Thanks to the webcam, it takes just about half-an-hour to get a three-minute video CV ready.
Ronesh Puri, MD, Executive Access, feels that video and podcast-laced CVs are a New Economy fad that will not be able to replace the traditional methods of recruitment.
"Hardly 2-3 per cent of recruitments have been influenced by video CVs," he says.
