The UK may not be looking very hospitable for young Indians with the changes in the highly skilled immigration programme and a new set of rules for medical graduates. However, there’s good news from across the English Channel as France gears up to launch its Compitences et Talent (competencies & talent) scheme in March. This new category of combined visa and work permit creates a fast track entry into France. The visa was conceived under the new French immigration law unveiled last year. “For Indians who have original and good projects which will impact both France and India, the new competencies & talent scheme will provide an opportunity to live, work, study or carry out research in France very easily,” Dominique Girard, the ambassador of France in India. Those qualifying under the new scheme will be directly issued with the combined work and residence permit for three years by the French ministry of interior.“This new category also comes as a shot in the arm for Indian students in France who — if they come up with projects that can convince the government authorities — can stay back to study or carry out research without having to apply for any new work permits or coming back to India,” says Andre Siganos, director general of EduFrance in Paris, the apex organisation for foreign students.EduFrance is also expanding its activities and rebranding itself as CampusFrance soon.“We plan to handhold foreign students right from the time they apply to French institutions and help them with visa, settling down, finding accommodation and various other issues,” Mr Siganos said. Under the new immigration law, foreign students who have completed a masters level degree in France, have also been granted an additional six months of residence in the country to facilitate their search for employment.More on Jobs In France employment In france Part Time Jobs In France Study In France
